Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire, which went into effect on Sunday.
At least two Palestinians have been killed by Israeli tank fire in the Tal as-Sultan area west of Rafah in southern Gaza, a civil defense official in the enclave told Al Jazeera.
The Israeli military said it was investigating reports of the attack, Reuters reported on Thursday.
The attack came after Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire that took effect on Sunday.
The first phase is scheduled to last six weeks and includes limited prisoner-to-prisoner exchanges, a partial withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, and a surge in aid to the enclave.
More than 3,200 aid trucks have entered Gaza in the first four days of the ceasefire, Al Jazeera reporter Tarek Abu Azwom said in a report from Deir El Bala in central Gaza.
“With the arrival of aid, the population was partially relieved. Humanitarian organizations have begun distributing aid supplies from centers across Gaza. “We are waiting desperately in line,” he said.
However, he added that the rains and the search for alternative shelters continue to cause suffering, especially for families who have returned to their destroyed homes.
At least 47,283 Palestinians have been killed and 111,472 injured in Israel’s war in Gaza since October 7, 2023. Hamas-led attacks on the same day also left at least 1,139 people dead and more than 200 captured in Israel.
