2025 is only days away, but Netflix already has an exciting pipeline of feature films set to be released this year, packed with everything from gripping new dramas to action-packed thrillers. We have a slate of movies and extended versions of them. It’s a popular British crime series that fans like me can’t wait to watch. From the Russo brothers’ new sci-fi opus to a Knives Out whodunnit that’s sure to be as entertaining as ever, the streamer is clearly wasting no time and preparing to dominate movie nights this year.
Of the five Netflix feature films previewed in this post (below), perhaps none is as buzzy as Peaky Blinders: The Immortals, creator Steven Knight’s long-awaited sequel to the Shelby family saga that fans have been clamoring for. There are no movies that are. They have been dead forever since the show’s final episode in 2022. Especially with star Cillian Murphy returning to the film.

And the excitement doesn’t stop there. Whether you’re a fan of gritty crime dramas, smart mysteries, or eye-popping sci-fi spectacles, take a closer look at five of the biggest and best original movies Netflix is bringing to your screens soon.
1. Ballad of a small player. This Netflix movie from Edward Berger, director of Netflix’s unforgettable and visceral World War I film All Quiet on the Western Front, is based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Lawrence Osborne. According to Netflix, the gist is: “When his past and debts begin to catch up with him, a high-stakes gambler (Colin Farrell) holed up in Macau meets a comrade who may hold the key to his salvation.” That’s what it is.
2. Massive confusion. Tom Hardy is used to playing tough characters at the center of historical and crime stories. In Gareth Evans’ Havoc, a detective is forced to navigate the criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s son after a drug deal goes wrong. Furthermore, a deeper conspiracy is also expected to be revealed. And whenever Hardy takes on a role like this, frenetic action and intense drama are sure to ensue.
3. Wake Up Dead Man: Knives Out Mystery. Daniel Craig returns as debonair detective Benoît Blanc in the latest installment of Rian Johnson’s murder mystery series. Wake Up Deadman is the third Knives Out movie, and Netflix is keeping its plot largely open for now. Remember, the company paid nearly $500 million to make two sequels to the OG Knives Out movie.
4. The Electric State: Based on the 2018 graphic novel by Simon Stålenhag, The Electric State, directed by the Russo Brothers, is set in an alternate version of the United States in the 1990s. A teenage girl, played by Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, searches for her missing brother in a ruined city filled with abandoned robots and AI-based remnants of a bygone era. travel the world (So far, this is the only movie among the five with a confirmed release date (March 14th).
5. Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. Finally, we turn to this film that will make many of us want to take off our tweed and flap caps again. The Peaky Blinders series is a six-season gangster story set in Birmingham from 1919 to 1934, after the rise of the Shelby family. Netflix says, “When we last saw Tommy Shelby in the Season 6 finale, he was off on a white horse to start a new life. What will the new movie bring him? It’s being kept secret, but Knight teased that things are about to get better, and we’re looking forward to it for the Shelby family.”
