A conflict that prevents aid to a population suffering from attacks and helps to the threat of hunger.
Sudan’s civil war created “the world’s worst humanitarian crisis,” the African Union warned.
The conflict between the Sudanese military government and the Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) was mentioned on Tuesday in a panel on the crisis.
The war “had hindered access to humanitarian relief, leading to food shortages and worsening hunger,” said Mohamed Ibn Chambas, chairman of the AU High-Level Panel in Sudan, on X. He spoke.
“Children and women are constantly abused, and the elderly and the illness lack medical assistance,” he continued. “This is the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.”
The warning reflects similar statements from international aid agencies, including the United Nations.
Attacks on schools and child soldiers
The war in Sudan broke out in April 2023, chasing an estimated 12 million people away. AU officials warned that hundreds of thousands of children are currently malnourished.
Wilson Almeida Adao, a senior AU employee in child welfare, said in a separate statement that hospitalizations for malnutrition increased by 44% in 2024, with more than 431,000 children being treated.
“We have witnessed reports of serious violations, including attacks on schools and hospitals, recruiting child soldiers and denial of access to humanity,” he said.

Sudanese troops control the country’s east and north, but the RSF owns most of the Darfur region, which Monday accused the UN of blocking aid.
Sudan’s UN resident and humanitarian coordinator Clementin Nukuweta Salami said that “sustained restrictions and bureaucratic hurdles” imposed by the RSF humanitarian organisation “turning hopeless life-saving aid into despair It prevents us from reaching it.”
Changbas declared that “only the political dialogue between Sudan, not a military option, can end this war,” saying, “external interference equally contributed to the reason the war lasted so long.” suggested.
“We will continue to be involved in all Sudanese political parties, including civilians and political actors, in a comprehensive solution to the crisis and comprehensive political dialogue to restore Sudan’s constitutional democracy. “Peace and security.”
On Sunday, Sudan’s military government has been pushing back the RSF in recent weeks, but released what is called the roadmap for the postwar transition government.
