New Zealand has changed its Golden Visa Rules to encourage, simplify and expand investment opportunities, making it more attractive and accessible to foreign investors. Currently, you can secure a Golden New Zealand visa by purchasing real estate worth $10 million.
Starting April 1st, the Active Investor Plus Complex Weighting system will be replaced by two simplified investment categories.
The growth category focuses on riskier investments, including direct investments in New Zealand companies. You will need to invest at least 3 years and a minimum of $5 million.
The balanced category focuses on mixed investments with the ability to choose the ones with low risk. There is a minimum of $10 million investment over five years.
So basically, from April 1, 2025, active investors and visa changes will be made to promote growth and make investments in New Zealand more attractive. These include the introduction of two simplified investment categories. It’s balanced with growth.
The rules for Active Investor Plus Visa have been changed by reducing NZD $15 million (or weighted equivalent) to $5 million for growth and NZD $10 million for NZD balanced category investors I did.
Additionally, acceptable investments now include bond and real estate investments for balanced category investors. Real estate developments include new residential or new/existing commercial or industrial facilities.
Most importantly, the requirements for learning English have been removed for foreign investors.
Currently, there are fewer immigration requirements for migrants who choose to invest more aggressively, such as reducing the time they need to spend in New Zealand. Investors under the growth category must spend at least 21 days in New Zealand over the investment period.
Investors under the balanced category should spend at least 105 days in New Zealand during the investment period.
Invest the minimum investment amount in direct investment or management funds. An additional $11 million investment, a 28-day reduction of $12 million, and a 42-day reduction of $13 million will be reduced for 14 days.
New Zealand is simplifying its “Golden Visa” programme by expanding its investment scope to attract wealthy immigrants and stimulate an economic recovery. For investor immigrants, choosing New Zealand as their capital investment destination is expected to provide encouragement.
Previously, New Zealand Golden Visa applications were processed under the Investor 1 and Investor 2 visa categories, but this has become unacceptable.
The Active Investor Plus (AIP) Visa category is now being introduced, encouraging direct investment in New Zealand companies through a weighting system, and promoting greater economic benefits for New Zealand.
Active Investor Plus Visa is intended to attract investors who play an active role in helping companies access global knowledge networks, capital and markets. Visas are designed to induce business productivity and employment growth.
