The new “Prison Break” series is slowly becoming a reality.
Hulu has ordered a pilot for a “Prison Break” sequel series and tapped “Mayan’s MC” co-creator Elgin James to write the script, TheWrap reported. The new series is from 20th Television, part of Disney Television Studios.
A new ‘Prison Break’ series is being considered as the next chapter in the thriller series, and is expected to feature new characters attempting a daring escape from prison. James will serve as executive producer along with Prison Break creator Paul Sheuring, as well as Prison Break EPs Dawn Olmstead, Marty Adelstein and Neal Moritz.
The pilot order comes just over a month after it was reported that a “Prison Break” series was in the works at 20th Television, which produced the show’s first run in 2005. .
The original series, created by Schuling, follows structural engineer Michael Scofield as he plots to break his brother Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) out of prison after Lincoln is falsely accused of murdering the Vice President’s brother. (Wentworth Miller) as the main character.
The series aired on Fox from 2005 to 2008, with a one-season rerun in 2017, but it has taken on a second life on Hulu, where every episode is now available for streaming.
