Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Peacock, HBO Max, Hulu, and Shudder will release movies and shows in the first half of January. Movies “Look into My Eyes”, “Get Away”, series “Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test”, “Traitor”, “American Primeval”, “The Pit”, “On Call” etc. British comedian. Nick Frost (“Hot Fuzz”) wrote and stars in “Get Away,” a comedy-horror about a family on vacation to an unwelcome island filled with strange and sinister happenings. But they have a stubborn determination to continue their vacation despite feeling like they’ve fallen into the “Swedish Terror.” “Get Away” begins streaming on Shudder on Friday, January 10th. Aisling Bea, Maisie Ayres and Sebastian Croft also star.

Lana Wilson’s “Look Into My Eyes,” one of the best American documentaries of the past year, will be available to stream on HBO Max on Wednesday. The film takes in the lives of several New York City psychics – their sessions, their homes, their own stories – and creates a fairly deep portrait of the humanity involved in this strange, misunderstood and exploited tradition. Two popular and addictive reality competition shows featuring celebrities return this week with new seasons. First up is Fox’s “Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test,” which premieres Wednesday. There, actors, reality TV and sports stars converge on a boot camp led by former special forces members. Season 3 will star The Bachelorette’s Denise Richards, Brody Jenner, Cam Newton, Stephen Baldwin, Trista Lane, and Ali Fedotowsky-Manno. Episodes will be available to stream on Hulu, and Peacock’s hit “Traitors,” hosted by Alan Cumming, will also air again on Thursday. Here, (mostly) reality TV celebrities gather in Scotland for a fascinating game of strategy and manipulation with a cash prize at the end. “The Traitors” won Outstanding Reality Competition Program at last year’s Emmy Awards.
“Yellowstone” and “Game of Thrones” meet in Netflix’s new limited series “American Primeval,” which premieres Thursday. The six-episode drama follows settlers as they expand westward and stars Taylor Kitsch and Betty Gilpin. Like the Yellowstone prequel, 1883, the new series depicts how intense the conflict over land in the American West was.
Noah Wyle returns to where we first met him: the emergency room, for his new series, The Pit. Wiley plays Dr. Michael “Robbie” Robinavich, who, rather than playing a green intern, is an experienced doctor at a fictional Pittsburgh hospital. Each episode follows one hour of Dr. Robbie’s 15-hour shift. “The Pit” debuts Thursday at Max.

Dick Wolf’s new police drama “On Call” will be released on Prime Video on Thursday. Eric La Salle (another “ER” alum) is an executive producer, cast member and directs some episodes of the show.
