YouTube star MrBeast’s content has officially gone mainstream with the release of Beast Games, a collaboration with Amazon Prime Video. The show revolves around challenges and psychological games with a whopping $5 million prize at stake. The number of contestants and the structure of the show have drawn many comparisons to Netflix’s 2021 hit series, The Squid Game.
In X, MrBeast goes back and forth between his Netflix handles, essentially promoting his own shows on Amazon. Both platforms are prominent players in the streaming industry, offering a variety of on-demand video content, including movies, TV shows, and original programming.
MrBeast responded to a Netflix promotional article stating that the second season of Squid Game is currently streaming on the platform:
“That’s…uh…the third episode of the Beast Game!”

MrBeast’s Beast Games is likely inspired by the Squid Game concept. MrBeast previously created a viral YouTube video titled “$456,000 Squid Game in the Real World!” There, contestants took part in challenges inspired by the Netflix series. The video became one of his most viewed projects, demonstrating his ability to turn fictional high-stakes competitions into entertaining real-life events.
Beast Games seems to be expanding on that idea by offering large-scale, high-stakes challenges with a unique twist. Although there are elements of intense competition, the tone is more family-friendly, in keeping with the YouTuber’s signature style of rewarding participants and creating an uplifting experience.
At the end of the first episode of Beast Games alone, more than half of the 1,000 participants were cut. As Episode 3 begins, there are 242 players remaining as of this writing.
The contestants officially settled in the $14 million city Mr. Beast built to host the game. Episode 3 saw tensions rise as the stakes rose under the Game Master’s increasingly cutthroat tactics.
This time, participants were divided into groups of three with their closest friends and faced the gut-wrenching decision of choosing who would be eliminated. The psychological pressure increased and showed how much effort the players would go to to secure their place in the competition.
By the end of episode 3, MrBeast announced that only 54 contestants would advance to the next stage of the game, the $1.8 million dollar island.
In other news, MrBeast expressed his disappointment over critics’ 2/10 rating for Beast Games. Despite this criticism, the show has achieved major milestones in viewership, ranking among the highest-rated shows on Amazon Prime Video in over 50 countries.
