Air India on Tuesday announced the expansion of its wireless in-flight entertainment service VistaStream to single-aisle aircraft. The service allows passengers to stream a variety of entertainment content directly to their personal devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Launched in August, Vistastream was initially available on the airline’s widebody aircraft, except for its newly acquired Boeing 777s and Airbus A350s. With this expansion, the service is now available on both wide-body and narrow-body aircraft to accommodate passengers on international and domestic flights.
According to the airline, this move aims to improve the passenger experience by providing convenient access to a variety of entertainment options during the flight. With this rollout, passengers will be able to explore more than 1,600 hours of carefully selected premium content, from Bollywood blockbusters and Hollywood hits to captivating documentaries, classics and carefully selected children’s programming. It also features live maps for real-time flight tracking and is compatible with iOS, Android, Windows and macOS devices, giving everyone easy access to entertainment during the flight, Air India said.

The introduction of Vista is intended to provide passengers with uninterrupted entertainment options until older aircraft are refurbished. Passengers using Vista can stream content directly to their personal electronic devices, and the service also includes a live map display for flight tracking. The service is compatible with iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS devices, ensuring a seamless entertainment experience across multiple platforms. Air India’s current fleet consists of 140 aircraft and the new services are expected to improve the overall passenger experience during this transition phase.
Air India expands fleet
Earlier on Monday, Air India announced it had ordered 100 additional Airbus aircraft, including 10 wide-body A350 jets and 90 narrow-body A320 family aircraft, including the A321neo. This new order builds on the airline’s previous contract and brings Airbus’ total order for 2023 to 350 aircraft, including 40 A350s and 310 A320 family aircraft. The purchase also complements Air India’s firm orders for 470 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing last year. To improve operational efficiency, Air India has announced that it has selected Airbus’ Flight Hour Service Component (FHS-C) to manage the maintenance needs of its growing A350 fleet.
