Since iOS 18.3 was released in late January, the first beta version of iOS 18.4 is expected to be released. A report from Mark Garman of Bloomberg shows that developers can expect the update to be “very close” available.
iOS 18.4 on the horizon
According to Gurman, the initial beta for iOS 18.4 could be released to developers between “mid-to-be-after-the-week.” For reference, the first beta of iOS 17.4 was released on January 25th last year, and the first beta of iOS 16.4 was announced on February 16th.
iOS 18.4 is expected to ultimately bring the much-anticipated extension to SIRI for devices that support Apple Intelligence. Planned features include improving personal context understanding, enhanced on-screen awareness, and the ability to manage applications. This update is also expected to introduce priority notifications. This allows you to prioritize certain alerts using AI.
Additionally, Apple has confirmed that iOS 18.4 extends Apple Intelligence support to a new language, marking the first such extension. The languages included are Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish and Vietnamese.
Additionally, iOS 18.4 could introduce a variety of new emojis previously announced by the Unicode Consortium. These new emojis feature fingerprints, faces with sacks under the eyes, harp, root vegetables, leafless trees, splatters and shovels.
