Ridley Scott is set to direct a Bee Gees biopic for Paramount. However, the project being discussed has been delayed. Shedding light on past discussions with the studio, the Blade Runner director recently revealed that he was temporarily leaving the project to work on another film.
Ridley Scott said in an interview with GQ that the studio changed the goalposts. “I said, ‘You can’t do that,’ and they insisted. I said, ‘Well, I warn you, I’m going to walk to the next movie.’ They didn’t believe me, but I believed,” the acclaimed director explained in an interview with the same media outlet.
Ridley Scott further added that he was being asked to go “too far,” to which he replied, “No.” Next! ‘They didn’t like my deal. So I said, let’s move on. It’s expensive, but it’s really good. ”
Ridley Scott will next be working on The Dog Stars, which is expected to begin filming in April. According to Deadline, the filmmakers plan to begin filming the Bee Gees biopic around September of this year.
The title of this movie is “You Should Be Dancing.” Regarding the plot of the film, the director of Blade Runner 2049 said that the biopic will focus on the rivalry between the band members.
Ridley Scott also stated that he was attracted to the working class aspects of the Bee Gees, adding that he was particularly interested in the sibling rivalry and competition.
Scott’s most recent film was Gladiator II, a sequel to the 2000 film starring Russell Crowe.
