Yes, you read the headline correctly. The new series, which launches in March 2025, is written by Joanne Starer and illustrated by Ted Brandt and Ro Stein. Its shocking title is “Harley Quinn Fartacular: Silent Butt Deadly.” Again, yes, you read that correctly. None of these are typos. Yes, the butt joke is intentional in the title.
So what is the series about? fart. That’s it. That’s the premise of this manga. Just a fart. What is a conspiracy? fart. That’s the plot. It’s all about farts. just. fart. Nothing else.
Here is the official synopsis for DC: It’s noticeably longer than other comics.
“I’ve had all the worst parts of bubble guts for the past 32 years, and it all led to this epic banishment. Your nose will never be the same! Gag… , you’ll cry and feel things you’ve never felt before! This wonderful publication is a celebration of all that’s gone, all that came before, and Thule’s place in history. , the highest gas concentration per page ever put into print. (GPP) is about to change with the release of the promised comic, Harley Quinn Fartacular: Silent Butt Deadly, in which everyone who worked on the comic will return to Dr. Furtley’s home of no-good gassy gals and guys. Make sure to emphasize your dedication because you’re going to get thrown in. Read the comic about how Abraham Lincoln got pleasure from farting right before he died. No kidding. If you’re sick of farting, this comic isn’t for you (and that’s totally fine!…though I’m judging you!). Unless you want to… in that case, this manga is for you.
Abraham Lincoln? Really?
Try as I might, I don’t think you could fit any more fart jokes into 184 words. The synopsis doesn’t reveal anything about the plot. There has to be some kind of story involved, right? You can’t just have images of Harley Quinn farting on people, right? Like I said, it’s just a fart. Does anyone find this interesting?
The cover of this issue is the same as the synopsis. Harley raises her paws and spits out a cloud of green gas as people in the background look on in disgust. The different covers display the same overall theme. Cover B, by Amanda Conner, shows Harley looking like she’s about to pass out from farting, with a figure in the background holding a can of beans. Oh, beans are falling from the sky. Cover C by Ben Caldwell appears to be painted to imitate Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam, but it’s not Adam but Harley, and Harley is telling God to pull his finger.
Oh no.
Look, I think farting is just as funny as the guy next door. I remember playing with doorknobs as a child. The game is that if someone farts, you say “doorknob” and you hit the doorknob until it touches the doorknob. But there are always limits, and wherever those limits are, they are far exceeded. I can’t help but wonder who the intended reader of this manga is. Who is this written for? I can’t imagine that the average person who reads DC Comics literally just wanted a Harley Quinn farting series.
The answer may be mean, so be prepared to cringe. Only people who get turned on by farting can watch this. I really can’t find any other explanation. “Maybe it’s only for people who genuinely think farting is funny,” you might say. I dispute the fact that there are actual scratches and smells in this book. This is 100% true. When I scratch it, it smells like farts. Harley Quinn’s fart.
Harley Quinn famously debuted as the Joker’s therapist in the excellent Batman: The Animated Series. The Joker infected her with his elaborate mind games, turning her into a female version of himself. Harley quickly gained popularity and eventually made her debut in comics. She was a complex character with an interesting storyline that explored themes of abuse, freedom, and equality. She rose to the status of antihero and then hero, sharing stories with Batman in her own comics and in Heroes in Crisis.
Now she farts and you can smell it. Is that the evolution of Harley Quinn?
What do you think about this series? Am I too serious? Farts are funny, so should we laugh at fart jokes, or is this new series taking it too far? Let us know what you think in the comments.
