Meanwhile, the newly updated AI Principals page very casually states that Google works to “mitigate unintended or harmful consequences and avoid unfair bias.”
Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet, founded in the Stanford dorm room in the mid-90s, made a strategic investment in AI along with Google Brain (2010) and DeepMind (2014). Google AI’s dedicated AI division was first announced at Google I/O 2017 by CEO Sundar Pichai. The company recently attracted FLAK, who is allegedly providing advanced software and AI technology to the US and Israeli military.

It appears that the company has updated its public AI principles page. I’ve erased the section titled “Applications we don’t pursue.”
