Severance Season 2 (Apple TV Plus)

watch on
Severance fans, the time has come! After a three-year hiatus, the highly rated Apple TV Plus series is finally back on our screens. And as I mentioned in my review of Severance Season 2, it was worth the wait.
Severance Season 2 picks up right after the cliffhanger events of the previous film, reuniting Mark Scout (Adam Scott). Mark Scout (Adam Scott) returns to Lumon Industries and finds that things are not the same as when he left. That’s all I can say about the latest season of this sci-fi mystery thriller. Because we don’t want to spoil anything important about the second installment of one of the best shows on Apple TV Plus. Just stick it on as soon as possible and your “bros” and “bros” alike can immerse themselves in the first must-see show of the year. – T.P.
Alien: Romulus (Disney Plus)

watch on
In the so-called Golden Age of Streaming, I’m always baffled when new movies aren’t simultaneously released on platforms owned by the same entertainment giant. That’s exactly what happened in Alien: Romulus. The film originally arrived on Hulu (US only) in November 2024, but did not debut globally on Disney Plus until this Wednesday (January 15).
Despite this, I can still vouch for how good this Alien movie is. Set between 1979’s “Alien” and 1986’s “Alien,” the film follows a journey to an abandoned space station where they encounter the sci-fi horror series’ iconic Xenomorph and get more than they bargained for. It depicts a group of “outrageous” and marginalized young people. face hugger. Back in Action (Netflix)

watch on
Cameron Diaz is finally, well, back in action, more than a decade after her so-called retirement. The star of the ’90s romantic comedy is back on our screens in a new action-packed Netflix movie. She plays a character in a very similar situation… In Back In Action, Diaz plays Emily, a former CIA spy who is dragged back. Diaz joined the job after both her and her husband’s (Jamie Foxx) identities were exposed – something Diaz definitely thought of when she read Seth Gordon and Brendan O’Brien’s script. No doubt.
The premise of Back in Action reads like a sequel to Mr. and Mrs. Smith, with Foxx playing Emily’s fellow CIA retiree. Diaz’s big comeback movie is one of 27 new movies to be streamed in 2025 after being postponed from 2024, making it the best action movie on Friday night. However, based on its abysmal score on Rotten Tomatoes, one of January’s new Netflix movies won’t make it to the best Netflix movies list. – Amelia Schwanke, Entertainment Editor
Unstoppable (Prime Video)

watch on
Sticking with the theme of streaming new movies from big stars, then head over to Prime Video to check out Unstoppable, the new docudrama about the inspiring life of NCAA wrestling champion Anthony Robles, who was born without a right leg. We recommend that you watch. Robles, who plays her own stunt double in the film, will be played by Jahrel Jerome (Moonlight), and Jennifer Lopez (Out of Sight) will play her mother.
That’s not all. MCU actor Don Chiado has been cast as Roble’s wrestling coach, Sean Charles, along with Michael Peña (American Hustle) as Roble’s high school coach, Bobby Williams, and Bobby Cannavale as Roble’s stepfather. (The Station Agent) also appears. , this star-studded sports biopic could top the list of Prime Video’s best movies. – as
Harley Quinn Season 5 (Max)

watch on
Harley Quinn has seen many different forms over the years. Whether it’s Margot Robbie’s version in Suicide Squad or Lady Gaga’s less successful take on the Joker, she’s a character that continues to dominate our screens. Her adult animated (and really well-done) work continues in Season 5 of Max with One Harley Quinn, where Kaley Cuoco once again plays the titular villain. This season, the iconic Batman antagonist has a new city to explore: Metropolis, also known as the city Superman protects.
Joining a group of misfits and villains including Poison Ivy and Clayface, who is getting his own live-action movie in the DC Universe (DCU), Harley decides to pack up and escape Gotham. Given the current situation, you can’t blame them for walking away (note the giant rat in the trailer). However, chaos ensues as Harley knows wherever she goes. Let’s hope Metropolis is ready for giant rats and whatever else they throw at us… Anyway, check out the latest chapter of one of the best Max shows ASAP! – Pound
XO, Kitty Season 2 (Netflix)

watch on
Kitty, the first Netflix series spun off from the Netflix movie XO, could set a new trend, especially since it did well enough to get a second season. If you haven’t heard of it, you may have heard it in To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, the Netflix romantic movie that inspired all of this. If you’re new here, you can enjoy two full seasons this weekend. Also, if you’ve been looking forward to the next part, it’s here.
Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger with truths revealed and feelings confessed, so if you’re looking for a romance fix, you’ll definitely get it here. I think Season 2 will tie up some of the loose ends from the first installment, and perhaps even pave the way for a third installment. Only time will tell if that is the case. If you’re XO, Kitty will be added to your guide to Netflix’s best shows. – lb
Another man (Max)

watch on
When it comes to A24 movies, Max is the place to be (in the US anyway). Some of my favorites are already available on the platform, for example, my favorite movie of 2024, I Saw The TV Glow. Another one added to the library this weekend with a stellar 92% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. I don’t want to miss it.
A Different Man stars Adam Pearson as an aspiring actor who undergoes a medical procedure to dramatically change his appearance, but after the surgery, Marvel star Sebastian Stan will replace Pearson in the lead role. Become. However, after it turns into a nightmare, he soon regrets his decision and becomes obsessed with regaining what he lost.
In classic A24 style, the film is particularly memorable for its exploration of Pearson’s neurofibromatosis type I. A24 seems to be going from strength to strength, with more to come this year. For now, I can’t wait to add this to Max’s best movies list. – lb
