Amazon Prime Video will drop new movies on its platform this January. We are here to list the best among them.
It’s a new year, so Prime Video has new movies for people to enjoy. From true-life biographical stories to animated family films for all ages, Prime Video has a variety of content to choose from. Additionally, one of the streamer’s original productions is arriving this month following its theatrical release and is ready to give viewers some fright-filled viewing.

Rami Malek brought the iconic life of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury to life in the 2018 Bryan Singer and Dexter Fletcher biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. The film covers Queen’s early beginnings and rise to fame, as well as Mercury’s departure from the group and their reunion at the 1985 Live Aid benefit concert.

This list had to include movies that give millennials a sense of nostalgia and force a new generation of kids to put down their tablets. In Judy Freudberg, Tony Geis, and Don Bluth’s prehistoric tale, a young brachiosaurus dinosaur is orphaned when his mother is killed while trying to protect him from a deadly predator. The last words his mother left him were instructions on how to get to the Great Valley, a safe haven populated by other dinosaurs like him. Along the way, he and his friend Sera find friendship among the locals.

In Spike Lee’s third feature film, Mookie (Lee) is a black New Yorker who works at an Italian-owned pizzeria in Brooklyn, and is thrown into drama when local Buggin’ Out (Giancarlo Esposito) brings up a problem at the restaurant. You will be caught up in Wall of Fame, as it only features Italian stars. When Baggin Out explains that restaurants in black neighborhoods should also celebrate black celebrities, owner Salvatore “Sal” Fragione (Danny Aiello) disagrees and rejects Baggin Out’s request, which leads to both causing racial tensions between communities; On top of that, it’s brutally hot, which makes things even worse.

When he invites his girlfriend and a group of men and women on a dream vacation to his private island, a night filled with alcohol and drugs begins to mix eerily together. Frieda must uncover Slater’s dark secret before it’s too late.

Director Paul Greengrass turned the true story of the 2009 Maersk Alabama hijacking into a live-action movie in 2013 with Captain Phillips. The film is based on Stephen Talty’s book A Captain’s Duty. As usual, four Somali pirates boarded a US container ship sailing in the Indian Ocean and took everyone hostage. To save his crew, Captain Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks) must find a way to ensure everyone survives.
