Paramount and YouTube have transactions.
The video platform owned by entertainment company and Google have cut back on new carriage transactions that will make the Paramount Channel available on YouTube TV video services.
The companies warned earlier this week that they were at odds over new deals, saying CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, BET and other channels are at risk of darkening. They signed a short extension that would continue the talk, and on Saturday night YouTube TV confirmed that an agreement had been reached.
“Members are happy to share that we have reached a deal to keep Paramount content on YouTube TV,” the company said. “That means you can access channels like CBS, CBS Sports, Nickelodeon, and more. Add-ons like Paramount+ with ShowTime and BET+ are also uninterrupted.”
The terms of the transaction have not been revealed, but YouTube TV has been added to the statement.
“We are pleased to announce the updated Paramount-Google agreement for the continued haul of Paramount’s major portfolio of entertainment, news and sports networks across YouTube TV’s platform,” a spokesperson for Paramount added. I did. “The multi-year agreement also features an expanded streaming relationship, and Google will provide the right to provide the right to qualify YouTube TV customers by continuing inclusion of showtime and bet+ on its YouTube Primetime channel. We look forward to expanding our long-standing partnership and providing great access to our audiences’ favorite programming.”
Pay TV providers such as Comcast, Charter, and YouTube TV are looking for more flexible ways to bundle channels, and media companies are usually trying to provide all channels to the basic service layer.
Paramount co-CEOS George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy and Brian Robbins also sent notes to Paramount staff who have forced a warning about the conflict and stressed the importance of transaction consultations. YouTube TV has over 8 million subscribers, making it one of the largest pay TV providers and the largest streaming PAY-TV providers.
