Sci-fi-based startup accelerator Y Combinator will launch its first AI startup school in San Francisco from June 16th to 17th. The event brings together 2,000 top AI students and researchers.
“We are proud to announce YC’s first AI startup school,” writes Garry Tan, CEO and President of YC, on LinkedIn. “This is a completely free meeting that brings together the minds of the world’s next top CS and AI.”
The event will feature leaders such as Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Openry CEO Sam Altman, Openry co-founder Andreji Carpati and World Lab CEO FEI-FEI LI.

The event is open to undergraduates, master’s degrees and doctoral candidates in the final year of AI, as well as recent alumni in fields such as computer science, applied mathematics, robotics, and AI research.
According to the announcement, YC will cover up to $500 for airfares and will help find accommodation with sci-fi-based founders.
Last month, YC also announced applications for the first batch of spring 2025. The application deadline is February 11th, 2025, at 8pm, at 8pm. Applicants will receive their responses by March 12th.
Last September, Tan announced that its startup accelerators are expanding to four batches a year. Traditionally, batches were run between June and September (summer batch) and January and April (winter batch), but since 2024, we have added spring and fall sessions.
Founded in 2005, YC is one of the most popular places for entrepreneurs around the world. Since then, YC has invested in over 4,500 companies including Airbnb, Meesho, Zepto, Dropbox, Stripe and Reddit. Since 2022, the standard startup accelerator trade has been to invest $500,000 in each selected startup.
