The project aims to expand water coverage for 1.8 million people living in Greater Beirut and Mount Lebanon and significantly reduce dependence on private water tankers, which are up to 10 times more expensive, the report said. This infrastructure investment has helped increase surface water supplies from 24 percent to an average of 70 percent of dry season demand, it added.
