Hollywood star Tom Holland has opened up about his future in the industry, revealing he plans to quit acting once he becomes a parent. In a recent interview with Men’s Health, the 28-year-old actor spoke of his desire to live a more normal life and devote himself fully to his family.
“Once I have kids, you’re not going to see me in movies anymore,” Holland said, adding, “Golf and being a dad. And I’m just going to disappear from the face of the earth.”
Holland has been dating Hollywood actress Zendaya since 2021, and the couple is closer than ever. They own a multi-million dollar home in Richmond, London.
Last sabbatical in the Netherlands
This isn’t the first time Holland has talked about retiring from acting or taking a hiatus. In 2023, Holland decided to take a break from acting after producing and starring in the Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room.
“I loved the learning curve of being a producer. I’m not used to hard work. I’ve always lived by the idea that hard work is good work. It was really fun, but again… “This show devastated me,” Holland said.
“There was definitely a time when I was like, ‘I need a break.’ I disappeared. I went to Mexico for a week, spent some time on the beach, laid out. And now I’ve been off for a year. “That’s a result of how difficult this show was,” he continued.
During his sabbatical, Holland, along with his two brothers, competed in and won a gold tournament with British pro Tommy Fleetwood.

internet reaction
Following the news, social media users said that while it was disappointing to see the talented actor step back from screens, it was probably the best decision to take to spend time with his family.
One user said: “A little sad, but considering he’s a great actor, I completely understand and respect his thoughts on this,” while another said: “Sad. It’s sad that he won’t be on screen anymore.” ”
A third commented: “As a parent myself I recommend doing this. Life moves so fast and kids grow up so fast.”
The British actor will likely have a busy few years ahead of him, as he is set to return in the Spider-Man costume for the fourth installment of the series, before possibly appearing in an Avengers movie.
Holland is also set to star in Christopher Nolan’s new film Odyssey, which is scheduled to be released in July 2026, with a cast that includes Matt Damon, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron. He will be joining the ensemble cast.
