“I got to see what he (Ohtani) did this year. I got a front row seat to it. It’s 50-50. It was just incredible,” Smith said. “So, watching him do that, watching him go out there. And (he’s) a Cy Young Award candidate every year. It’s unbelievable what he can do. We’re We are lucky to have him.”
Will Smith excited about Dodgers additions
The LA Dodgers are having a successful offseason so far. They re-signed former Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell, World Series champions Teoscar Hernandez and Blake Treinen, and recently added Korean infielder Haesung Kim. Will Smith is excited to play with them, but also said the front office might be looking to bring in more fresh faces.
“We’ve got a lot of players back and obviously signed some new players. We’re excited about that,” Smith added. “I’m sure we’re looking to sign some more guys. I know the front office’s plan is to make our team better every year and that’s what they’re working towards. But in the end it’s our decision. Go out and play. ”
The Dodgers are the top candidates for the prize for Aki Sasaki. Japan’s young flamethrower is expected to sign by January 23, before the submission deadline expires. LA also wants to extend veteran pitcher Clayton Kershaw.
