Joe Rogan is widely known as a podcasting powerhouse, but his career also includes stints as a UFC commentator, sitcom star, and trained martial artist. Recently, Logan revealed an interesting chapter in his life, including a possible matchup with Hollywood legend Wesley Snipes. The match never materialized, much to Logan’s dismay.
Wesley Snipes, famous for movies like Blade and Demolition Man, has a long background in martial arts, including training in karate, hapkido, kung fu, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. These skills nearly landed him a high-profile fight with Joe Rogan. In a December 2023 podcast episode, Rogan detailed how negotiations for the fight began and why they ultimately fell apart.
Logan explained that his lawyer entered into talks and he began a rigorous training regimen, working on kickboxing and jiu-jitsu every day in preparation for the fight. Despite careful preparations, Logan believed that Snipes withdrew after realizing that Logan’s extensive combat experience gave him a significant advantage.
Logan said fight talks broke up as demands from Snipes escalated, including an unequal pay split. Eager for a fight, Logan agreed to Snipes’ terms, but never got the chance to fight. He speculated that Snipes was in financial trouble due to tax issues and saw the match as a quick payday.
In 2016, Rogan also revealed that Snipes was considering a match against another action star, Jean-Claude Van Damme, but the match was deemed commercially impossible by industry experts. It was rejected as such.
While the fight between Joe Rogan and Wesley Snipes remains a “what if” scenario, Rogan’s observations highlight the intrigue and complexity of the crossover between Hollywood and the martial arts world. As Logan continues to share behind-the-scenes stories of his multifaceted career, fans can only imagine what could have been going on.
