Paramount Plus will soon release Ridley Scott’s long-awaited historical sequel Gladiator 2, a new service to entertain streaming viewers.
In this sequel to Scott’s Oscar-winning 2000 blockbuster, Paul Mescal plays Lucius, a young boy who admires Russell Crowe’s Maximus in the previous film. Returning actress Connie Nielsen plays Lucius’ mother Lucilla, who was Emperor Commodus’ sister in the original film. According to the official synopsis, Gladiator 2 is set many years in the future in ancient Rome, where Lucius “enters the Colosseum after his hometown is conquered by an oppressive emperor.”
