What do you think about the use of robot dogs by the Indian military?

This day is an important occasion to honor the change of leadership that symbolizes India’s sovereignty and military independence, and to pay heartfelt tribute to the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country’s security.

Robot dogs take center stage at 77th Army Day in Pune

In a notable example of technological advances, a platoon of robotic dogs, also known as Multi-Use Leg Equipment (MULE), took center stage at the Army Day March. The Indian Army recently added 100 of these robotic dogs, which are specifically designed to enhance its ability to operate in difficult terrain while reducing the risks faced by human soldiers.

The robot dog was prominently displayed at the induction ceremony of the Southern Army at the iconic BEG & Center Parade Ground in Khadki, Pune. The event, presided over by Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, GOC-in-C Southern Command AVSM, not only celebrated military excellence but also highlighted the force’s commitment to innovation. The ceremony featured a majestic procession by eight distinguished detachments from various regimental centers, further showcasing the Army’s technological prowess with advanced weaponry and state-of-the-art combat vehicles.
Indian Army Day is a day of reflection, remembrance and inspiration commemorating the leadership of Field Marshal Cariappa and India’s military autonomy. It celebrates the change in leadership that marked India’s independence, pays tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives, and promotes patriotism and national unity.
The Army’s motto, “Service Before Self,” emphasizes the unwavering dedication of our soldiers. The 77th Indian Army Day celebrations in 2025 will be historic as for the first time a parade will be held in Pune.
Key highlights include the ‘Know Your Army Mela’ showcasing technological advancements, the participation of the Women Agniveer contingent and vivid displays representing the various Army contingents. The event will emphasize inclusivity, innovation and the Army’s core values.
