UFC Fight Night Main Event Fight Card
Colby Covington vs Joaquin Buckley
Covington (17-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC), whose most recent title shot ended in a loss to Leon Edwards at UFC 296, returns to the Octagon for the first time in a year. Although it was Covington’s third failed attempt at the title, he is 16-1 in non-title fights during his career.
He will face an interesting opponent in Buckley, who has been on a winning streak since switching from middleweight last year. Buckley (20-6, 10-4) enters this fight ranked in the top 10 following his stoppage victory over Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson at UFC 307.
A win over the veteran Covington would move Buckley closer to title contender talk, but Covington is looking to claw his way back to the fourth round. Covington called himself a “company guy” by accepting the fight. Some may see little upside, but big downside if you lose. In a matchup between two experienced featherweights, Swanson will be looking to bounce back from a decision loss to Andre Fili in June, while Quarantillo will be looking to bounce back from a submission loss to Youssef Zalal. Swanson, 41, is a member of the UFC Hall of Fame. Quarantillo, a veteran of the Octagon, has won and lost his last eight fights.
Quarantillo draws 55 percent of the prize money as the -150 favorite, while Swanson is favored by 59 percent of the total bets at +125.
Manel Cape (19-7-0) vs. Bruno Silva (14-5-2)
This is a top 10 flyweight fight. Kape has a modest 4-3 record in his first seven fights in the UFC, while Silva is on a four-fight win streak after losing his first three fights in the promotion.
The people strongly support the weak in this matter. Silva drew 77% of money and 67% of bets at +290, upsetting Cape (-375).
Dustin Jacoby (19-9-1) vs. Vitor Petrino (11-1-0)
Petrino suffered his first professional loss in his last fight as the former Dana White Contender Series fighter was submitted by Anthony Smith. Jacoby enters the fight on a two-game losing streak, but has lost just once in his past five outings inside the Octagon.
The totals wagered are nearly even, but Petrino has a huge advantage with 87% of the money backing him at -350. Jacoby only draws 13% of the time despite +260 odds.
Daniel Marcos (16-0-0) vs. Adrian Yanez (17-5-0)
Yanez snapped a losing streak at two with a first-round overtime victory over Vinicius Salvador in May. Now he’s looking to get his winning streak back on track, with Yanez extending his undefeated streak to 16 with a unanimous decision win over John Castaneda in his last fight. This will be an important fight for both bantamweights who are aiming for the top of the rankings.
Marcos opened at -145, but with the public supporting him with 88% of their money, we see his odds as the favorite to win the race to -210. Yanez went from +120 to +175.
Navajo Sterling (5-0-0) vs. Tuco Toccos (10-4-0)
Sterling remains undefeated in the early stages of his professional career. Tokkos suffered a sudden loss in May against Omar Sy.
Sterling is by far the favorite on the main card. He opened at -500 to win this heavyweight fight, but with Sterling backing 82 percent of the money, those odds have drastically changed to -900. Toccos won 49 percent of the total fight stakes, which were offset by big stakes, giving him +575.
