The Boston Red Sox remain among the candidates to sign Alex Bregman. The Gold Glove Award-winning 3B plays patient, waiting for all teams to play their cards at the table before choosing a destination.
As Chris Rose said on JM Baseball’s Baseball Today podcast on Friday, the Red Sox are favorites to sign Alex Bregman. He also said that signing him to the team would somehow reignite the heated rivalry between the Red Sox and Yankees. This had something to do with the third baseman’s time with the Houston Astros.
“I’m going to let him go to Boston. I think they had a very good offseason and didn’t spend an exorbitant amount of money. The biggest move they made was trading for Garrett Crochet.”

“I think they spent between $50 million and $60 million this offseason. So if they really want to come back and make the Yankees sweat a little bit more, this is It’s definitely possible. I mean, how much money would that be? Would it be fun? “There’s already a faction of Yankee fans who can’t stand a guy like Alex Bregman, if he were to go to their biggest rival city right now,” Rose said. (10:15)
Yankees fans really dislike the players on the 2017 Astros team. During a subsequent investigation, the team faced charges of sign stealing. Houston played New York in the 2017 postseason and won. Ever since the sign-stealing scandal was confirmed, Yanks fans have been filled with anger, believing that Bregman and others have done a terrible job.
Manager Walker Buehler asks Alex Bregman to sign with Red Sox
Newly acquired free agent starter Walker Buehler has been wearing a Boston cap since before spring training began. The pitcher, who signed a one-year, $21.05 million contract with the Red Sox, spoke to Bregman about possibly joining Boston. He said this at his inaugural press conference on Friday.
“I’ve certainly lobbied everywhere for him to come to Boston,” Buehler said. “He and I have been friends for years. We played together a little bit on Team USA in college.”
The two are close friends outside of baseball and are co-owners of a racehorse called March of Time. A reunion in Boston would likely happen if Bregman decides to play another infield position. Rafael Devers is at the hot corner, and according to the Red Sox, they don’t want to move him.
