In the latest example of US President-elect Donald Trump parroting Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s propaganda, he accused outgoing US President Joe Biden and the Western military alliance NATO of provoking Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

At a press conference on Tuesday (January 7), President Trump falsely said that Biden and Ukraine’s call for NATO membership led to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

President Trump and his far-right allies in the United States have long been friends with President Putin and have supported Russia over Ukraine and NATO. President Trump slammed Ukrainian President Vladimir Putin for emptying the U.S. coffers over the Biden administration’s aid to Ukraine. He and his allies have also repeated Putin’s propaganda that it was NATO’s advance to Russia’s borders that forced Russia to invade Ukraine.

In fact, President Putin invaded Ukraine because he rejects the country’s right to exist and believes in building a Soviet-like sphere of influence around Russia.

Furthermore, it was former President George W. Bush, not Biden, who called for Ukraine to join NATO in 2008. Biden is just the latest U.S. and Western leader to support the idea of Ukraine joining NATO.

President Trump accused Biden of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, saying, “A big part of the problem is that Russia — long before President Putin — has said, “You can never get NATO involved in Ukraine.” That’s true.” Now they said that. It’s like something written in stone. And somewhere along the line Biden said “no.” They should be able to join NATO. ” Well, Russia has someone right there, and I understand how they feel about that. ”

President Trump has been boasting for about two years that he would end the war within 24 hours of taking office, but at a press conference he said it would take up to six months to end the war in Ukraine.

“I want six months. No, I wish it was much earlier than six months. Russia is losing a lot of young people, Ukraine is the same, and it should never have started,” Trump said. the president said.

As seen in a three-hour interview with podcaster Lex Fridman last week, President Zelensky has changed his tune, placating Mr. Trump and denouncing Mr. Biden, but in Ukraine and the West, Mr. There are concerns that it will force Ukraine into an agreement with Russia. That would essentially help Russia win on a plate. There are signs that President Trump is planning to do just that.

President Trump has not yet outlined a plan to end the war in Ukraine, but his aides say he will continue to control the territory from the day the deal is signed and incorporates membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and European Union (EU). It outlines a number of plans that broadly call for the freezing of Ukraine was taken off the table to appease President Putin.

Trump and his allies have a long history of working with Russia rather than U.S. intelligence and allies. During his first term, President Trump parroted Putin’s claims that Russia did not interfere in the U.S. election, contrary to assessments by U.S. government agencies. Similarly, his current allies, chief among them incoming intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard, are ardent supporters of Russia.

Like Trump, Gabbard told X on the day Russia invaded Ukraine: “This war and suffering could have easily been avoided if the Biden administration/NATO had simply acknowledged Russia’s legitimate security concerns regarding Ukraine’s membership in NATO, which would mean US/NATO membership. NATO forces are closing in on Russia’s borders (sic). ”

In the run-up to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Gabbard falsely claimed Biden wanted war. He said Biden should assure Russia that Ukraine will not join NATO.

“Biden can very easily prevent war with Russia by ensuring that Ukraine does not become a NATO member. In any case, it is against our national security that Ukraine becomes a NATO member. If it’s not a security interest, why should Russia do that? Will we not give guarantees? Is it because the warmongers actually want Russia to invade? So we will impose severe sanctions on Russia and the military-industrial complex will continue indefinitely for decades to come. Will we be able to firmly establish a new Cold War that will benefit us? (sic),” Gabbard told X.
