If 2024 was all about elegance, 2025 is the year to kick it up a notch with a new wave of romantic fashion and the rise of powder pink. This is also the year that maximalism overtakes minimalism and personal style and personality influences the way we dress. At least, that’s what the editors of Who What Wear predicted when we asked them for their thoughts on where fashion is headed and the top trends to invest in in 2025.

To preview the season’s best buys, Who What Wear’s fashion editors check out these, including where they appeared on the Spring/Summer 2025 runways and why they’re likely to resonate with fashion insiders. We looked into trends in detail. Plus, our editors share shopping recommendations so you can start adding them to your wardrobe today. Let’s take a look at the top 5 fashion trends to wear in spring 2025.

Light, romantic pieces haven’t been cool for a while, but that’s about to change for spring 2025. The delicate floral prints seen in Loewe and Victoria Beckham’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection are back. At Miu Miu, lingerie dressing appeared in the form of lace-trimmed slip skirts and dresses. At Michael Kors, heavier guipure took the form of lace circle skirts, and a sense of lightness permeated the entire collection. I see this shift towards romantic fashion as a reaction to minimalism, which has been dominant for many years, and predict that it will have a major impact on the fashion world’s attire in 2025.

modern maximalism

“Luxury! Romance! Drama! On a macro level, style is moving from an era of stubborn minimalism to a new chapter of modern maximalism, and the roots of this aesthetic change are found throughout the Spring 2025 runway. Saint Laurent Designers such as Chanel, Loewe, Dries Van Notten and Valentino all embrace this luxurious vibe through iridescent finishes, tapestry prints, intricate fabrics, and emphasis on combining print and color. I think it’s important to wear a jacket with strong shoulders, finished with intricate jacquard, like Liberoe’s style. Although a significant departure from current mainstream trends, the rise of swan style, our collective interest in the style of socialites like Lee Radziwill, and the shift away from maximalism for many from fashion Considering the fact that it’s been fading away, I think a comeback is just in time after a season. ” — Anna LaPlaca, Senior Editor

“Powder pink is definitely the first trend I’m adding to my wardrobe this year. Designers like Kyte are making us look cooler and more sophisticated than ever, ready for award season (yep, Ariana Grande) and fashion month. I’m making a pink one. , I expect it to be everywhere on red carpets and on the streets, I’ve already bought a soft pink t-shirt, and maybe a blazer and skirt in that shade will be on the market next. “Bottega Veneta just released its iconic Andiamo bag in powder pink, and I’ve been thinking about it every day since I saw it.” — Alison Payer, Senior Editor

soft power

“The trend I’m most excited about this spring is what Who What Wear editors Kristen Nichols and Eliza Huber call ‘soft power.’ This business-chic aesthetic focuses on soft, fluidly tailored separates rather than stuffy, structured separates that move with your body and are comfortable to wear all day long, even if spring isn’t nearly here. The emphasis is on the fabric. This season, I’ve already seen celebrities and fashion trendsetters embracing it.

“For example, Ayo Edebiri wore a custom Loewe suit featuring baggy pants, a fitted blazer, a silk button-down shirt, and a long gold feather tie for the 2025 Golden Globe Awards. Hailey Bieber also showed off the trend in an oversized gray blazer jacket with matching pleats from Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello. Pair it with pants, a burgundy tie, and a striped shirt for a night out in LA. With these trendsetters leading the way, we expect to see more soft power trends on and off the runway. If you’re into this look, consider investing in a subtly slouchy trench coat, baggy wide-leg pants, a button-down or a polo blouse. If you’re ready to fully embrace the trend, accessorize with a chic tie. ” — Nicky Chwat, Deputy Editor

“The trends I’m most excited to shop for this beginning of the year are individual pieces. We’ve all reached a level of exhaustion by the homogeneity of social media-driven microtrends and cosplay minimalism. This year, we see a shift in focus from simply showing off great clothes to incorporating individual styling through exquisite finishes and statement accessories, such as nostalgic hats and bags. Look out for statement accessories like charms, mismatched belts, unique jewelry, and statement pieces that feel like they were made for you. Now is the time for us all to tell our own stories with our shopping. ” — Sierra Mayhew, Editor.
