Benjamin Ridley Portus Butler is a 25-year-old Bocted actor who currently lives in Colchester and makes music under the name Porteus.
He first discovered his interest in acting at St. Helena School thanks to the “great drama division.”
He also “grown loving films and television” while making films with his brother Nathaniel.
Over the past few years, Benjamin has been a background actor in a variety of popular television shows, including Slow Horse, Luther: The Fallen Sun, Masters of the Air, and the Power of Amazon Prime.
His latest appearance is in the fantasy drama here. It features lead actor Tom Hanks, who has lived in the same house for a century, and follows couples and families of multiple generations.
Directed by cast-away director Robert Zemeckis, the film also featured actors Paul Bettany, Robin Wright and Kelly Riley.
It was released in a British cinema last month.
Benjamin appears in a very small room during the wedding scene, standing on the other side of Hanks.
He states:
“He made an effort to talk to everyone. It’s very rare. At one point, he was dressed like the Beatles in a ’60s costume, so he quips, ‘We should start a band.’ He said.
“He is a very creative worker and each one felt fresh and intriguing, so it’s a great experience to react to Paul Bettany who can see him groping for the camera during the wedding scene. It was.
“It was probably the shortest job I’ve done, and we only had to set it for about an hour. I wondered if it was a good thing that we were sent home so quickly. It seemed like it was cut.”
The role here came from Benjamin, who works with a film agency looking for background actors.
Ben didn’t know he was a Star Wars production until he went to Covid Test and Costume Fit at Pinewood Studios.
He said: “I couldn’t believe it. Then I looked at the costume area and put on the costume.
“We filmed about a week, and as a Big Star Wars fan, it had to be one of the best weeks I’ve ever had.
“You can see the Star Wars set. It was incredible to have all the amazing people who worked in all the departments, and real stunt coaches for the battle scenes.
“It’s really fulfilling to work closely with Coach Tony Haynes, and I learned a lot.”
In the future, the new actor will “want to do more”, whether in front or behind the camera, working on film and television music.
He would also “want to go to some lead roles.”
Benjamin is currently working on an independent comedy horror film called the Brothers that will appear later this year.
