Now that the DCEU has definitively ended, we’re going to miss a lot of things about it, including one of the coolest suits ever featured in a DC movie. The DCEU’s supersuits have been relatively controversial, with some fans lamenting the loss of the darker, more realistic costumes worn by superheroes and supervillains alike in previous DC film series. That cannot be denied. Looking back, I think wardrobe was one area where the DCEU excelled, even when they made bold creative decisions with supersuits like Superman’s.
I’ll admit, I’m a big fan of the bright costumes depicted in the new Superman trailer, and I can’t wait to see David Corenswet in his trunks bring the pages of the comic to life. No. Nevertheless, after looking back at one of the DCEU’s highest-rated movies, we think James Gunn shouldn’t hesitate to pick out the best parts from the now-defunct series that he also contributed to. Thankfully, the costumes I have in mind were ones he was directly involved with. However, I don’t think it got the praise it truly deserved.
Suicide Squad’s Bloodsport suit is seriously underrated
Bloodsport’s helmet is the coolest on the team
James Gunn’s first contribution to DC’s live-action films was The Suicide Squad, a soft reboot of the widely panned Suicide Squad that helped steady the ship. Although The Suicide Squad was a financial disappointment, it was at least widely popular for a number of reasons, including its deftly cast host of titular tramps, its balanced tone, and its dazzling visual style. It was highly praised. In fact, there’s so much to like about it that I don’t think enough people talk about it, especially the character designs and Bloodsport’s amazing wardrobe.

Why Suicide Squad reviews are so positive
Reviews for Suicide Squad have been very positive, with critics praising director James Gunn’s action, humor, and Task Force X characters.
Idris Elba deftly plays the reluctant but capable mercenary who is unwittingly tasked with leading Task Force X’s suicide mission, and quickly becomes a firm fan favorite within the team. His costume, on the other hand, emphasizes how terrifying he is. The muted black and bronze color scheme is perfect for the tone of the DCEU, and the full-face visor and Skulljaw’s helmet serve as a terrifying symbol of Bloodsport’s expiration and the fact that he himself was able to defeat Superman. I will. Unfortunately, this helmet hasn’t been talked about as much as, say, Peacemaker’s, partly due to the fact that it barely appears in the movie.
Why we didn’t see many Bloodsport suits in Suicide Squad
Idris Elba is too famous and has no talent to hide
Bloodsport is one of the main characters in Suicide Squad alongside Harley Quinn, so it’s no surprise that an A-list celebrity like Idris Elba was cast in the role. Sadly, Idris Elba’s star power may be one of the reasons he’s rarely seen wearing a face-obscuring helmet in Suicide Squad. After all, it’s only natural that filmmakers want to maximize Idris Elba’s appeal as one of Hollywood’s leading actors, no matter how great his costume design is. Hiding your face with an opaque mask doesn’t help you achieve that goal. teeth.
Idris Elba is not only one of Hollywood’s most recognizable faces, he’s also an incredibly talented actor, and when forced to act from behind an opaque visor for much of the movie, That ability will be criminally suppressed.
Additionally, it’s commonplace in superhero movies to remove cowls and facial coverings, allowing the actors behind them to convey a wide range of expressions beyond gestures and intonation. Idris Elba is not only one of Hollywood’s most recognizable faces, he’s also an incredibly talented actor, and when forced to act from behind an opaque visor for much of the movie, That ability will be criminally suppressed. So while I’ll admit that this decision was probably for the best, I’d still like to see more of Bloodsport’s great costumes in the future.
‘Bloodsport’ could return due to DC Universe and Suicide Squad connection
Amanda Waller and Weasel are back
Thankfully, seeing more of Idris Elba’s Bloodsport isn’t beyond the realm of possibility. The DCU reboot may have ruled out a long list of DCEU characters, but we’ve already seen certain actors reprise their roles in new DCU releases. While Superman is set to begin the live-action cinematic side of the DCU, a new series is technically already underway with Creature Commandos. The animated series revolves around Suicide Squad and a role that bears a suspicious resemblance to its charismatic characters. Additionally, Creature Commandos is officially DCU canon and has already been pulled from the DCEU.
Creature Commandos is available to stream on Max.
Characters like Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller and Sean Gunn’s Weasel are the mainstays of the DCU’s Creature Commandos. Both of these characters appeared in Suicide Squad, which could pave the way for other surviving characters from James Gunn’s DCEU films to follow. So the fact that Bloodsport also survived The Suicide Squad’s ordeal fills us with hope that Gunn will make a wise move to bring him back into the team. I hope you can see more of the costumes this time.
James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad serves as a soft reboot of David Ayer’s 2016 Suicide Squad. Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) is once again recruiting a group of superheroes for a dangerous mission, this time with Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), and Bloodsport (Idris).・Elba), Peacemaker (John Cena), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Ratcatcher 2 (Daniella Melchior), Savant (Michael Rooker), King Shark (Sylvester Stallone), Blackguard (Pete Davidson), Javelin (Flula)・Borg).
