We are talking about one of the greatest actors of the 20th century. Throughout his 50-year career, he received numerous awards. He earned Rs 420 million in 1989. Can you guess?

The world's highest-paid actors Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp, who were charged Rs 492 million 36 years ago, have been left stranded...

Do you know who is the highest paid actor in the world? When this question arises, Hollywood stars naturally come to mind. For many years, Hollywood actors have dominated the list of the world’s highest-paid stars. But there was a time when the world’s highest-paid actors were villains, not heroes. Amazingly, he surpassed iconic names like Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp. Do you know who that actor is? Here’s another tip. Thirty-six years ago, this actor charged 12 times more than his leading man, leaving everyone stunned. He became the world’s highest-paid actor in 1989.

He is widely regarded as one of the greatest actors of the 20th century. Throughout his 50-year career, he has won numerous awards, including three Academy Awards, three BAFTAs, six Golden Globes, and one Grammy. He also received the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 1994 and a Kennedy Center Honor in 2001. In many of his films, he played a rebel against the social structure.

We’re talking about actor Jack Nicholson. In the 1989 Batman movie, Nicholson played the psychotic villain Joker. The film was a worldwide hit, and a lucrative contract earned him a cut of the box office gross, estimated at $60 million to $90 million. He said he was “particularly proud” of his performance as the Joker, saying, “I thought of it as a piece of pop art.” This profit was part of his commission of Rs 4,920 crore. At that time, he pocketed a total of Rs 492 million. Jack Nicholson earned a salary of 492 million rupees, making him the highest-paid actor in the world. He beat out stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, who were charging salaries of Rs 164 million to Rs 246 million at the time.

Jack Nicholson as Joker in Batman

Michael Keaton’s role as a superhero caused a lot of controversy because he was paid only $5 million (approximately 4.1 billion rupees) for his role. He wasn’t a big name at the time.

Jack Nicholson was 52 years old when Batman was released and was far from a box office sensation. However, the success of this film catapulted him to top star status. Nicholson’s rise to fame was all the more surprising because at the time, actors like Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, and Bruce Willis dominated the industry.
