The African Union warned on Tuesday that the Sudan civil war created “the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.”

Mohamed Ibn Chambas, chairman of the African Union Panel on Sudan, said that the civil war has been repeatedly abused, “stopping access to humanitarian relief,” and that it has been repeatedly abused with women and exacerbated food shortages along with women. It led to hunger, he said in a statement on Facebook. I cannot receive medical assistance for the elderly and the illness.

Hon. Wilson Almeida Adao, chairman of the African Committee on Children’s Rights and Welfare, said in a statement released on X (formerly Twitter), that the war was an ongoing humanitarian crisis. He said it would take more than a thousand lives and expel more than 11.4 million people. Findings by the International Rescue Commission and people based on weakening of the agency. Adao’s statement brought attention to the number of displaced people increasing 24% in 2024. Of these, 53% of displaced people are children. Most women and children are evacuated, according to emergency guards from the International Rescue Committee (IRC).

On Monday, the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Cooperation condemned the Rapid Support Forces (RFS) blocking humanitarian assistance to Darfur. Humanitarian workers are restricted by Sudan Relief and Humanitarian Activities (SAHRO) related to the Rapid Support Force (RSF). The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Association (IFRC) reported that Sudan’s red crescent volunteers were killed by cannon fire while participating in the cleaning campaign. The UN argued that as Sudan’s difficulties escalate, interfering with humanitarian operations will end.

Sudan’s civilians are exposed to violence and human rights abuses. Healthcare in Sudan has been negatively affected, medical facilities have been destroyed, and Sudan is experiencing catastrophic hunger. Human Rights Watch (HRW) explains that state and non-state troops must comply with war laws consisting of international and customary humanitarian laws, including the 1949 Geneva Convention.

There is no obstacle to humanitarian activities that the International Committee of the Red Cross or other impartial humanitarian organisations can take on to protect and remedy of civilians, subject to the consent of the parties involved in the conflict.

Sudan is the party of the four Geneva Conventions of 1949, a protocol in addition to the Geneva Convention of 12 August 1949, and is related to the protection of victims of non-international armed conflicts (Protocol II) ). . Furthermore, Article 3 of the first treaty allows impartial humanitarian bodies to provide services to parties affected by the conflict.

Sudanese citizens began on April 15, 2023 between the Sudanese Army (SAF) and the rapid support force (RSF), resulting in huge pain, sexual violence, ethnic cleansing and civilian deaths. I did.
