Russia reacts to Trump’s claim to set up meeting with Putin: ‘Apparently the situation is…’

The Kremlin has responded to President-elect Donald Trump’s claims that Russian President Vladimir Putin “would like to meet” and that a meeting is being arranged. The claim was made ahead of MAGA’s scheduled launch on January 20th.

President Trump has long said that his first priority in office will be to end the war in Ukraine and Russia. Russia has expressed openness to the idea and has not set any preconditions for the possibility of face-to-face talks.

Kremlin welcomes possible meeting between Trump and Putin

“We need a mutual desire and political will for dialogue,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in response to Trump’s claims on Thursday, according to the Deccan Herald. Ta. “Trump also seems to have declared his readiness to resolve issues through dialogue. We welcome that.”

The Kremlin believes there is “mutual interest” in talks between Putin and Trump, but stressed that progress is likely to begin after Trump takes office. Peskov did not confirm that Putin had requested a direct meeting. “It looks like things will start moving once President Trump enters the Oval Office.”

On Thursday, President-elect Trump announced that President Vladimir Putin would like to meet, and that a meeting was scheduled to discuss ending the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. “He has requested a meeting and we are in the process of arranging one,” MAGA said ahead of a meeting with Republican governors at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.

“President Putin wants to meet. He has said so in public, and we have to end that war. It’s a bloody mess,” he continued, referring to the ongoing war. .

Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials worry that reduced U.S. aid under the Trump administration could jeopardize the country’s defenses against Russia. Meanwhile, the Biden administration continues military aid to Ukraine and prepares for future negotiations. Peskov acknowledged that the Biden administration could leave Trump with a difficult legacy in U.S.-Russian relations.
