The arrest of Telugu actor Allu Arjun has triggered widespread reactions from all political sections in Telangana. While the Opposition criticized the Revanth Reddy-led government, the Congress defended the case against the ‘Pushpa 2’ star in the Sandhya theater stampede incident.

Telangana Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud on Saturday said the law is on track in the case and the party will not have any issue with any film hero.

“The case filed against Arjun is within the ambit of law and the court granted him bail,” he said, according to PTI.

Goode pointed out that it was the Congress chief ministers of undivided Andhra Pradesh who were instrumental in relocating the Telugu film industry from Chennai to Hyderabad (in the 1980s). He said his party had only love for the film heroes and no malice.

Goud said the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership held the Congress government at fault for Arjun’s arrest on Friday over the death of a woman after fans jostled during the premiere of Arjun’s film Pushpa 2 earlier this month. This was acknowledged as an exception.

What Telangana rebels said about Allu Arjun’s arrest

Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday slammed the Congress over actor Allu Arjun’s arrest, saying the party “does not respect the creative industries”.

“The Congress has no respect for the creative industries and Allu Arjun’s arrest proves it once again. The Sandhya theater accident clearly shows that the arrangements between the state and local administration were inadequate. Now , they are indulging in extravagant acts to evade their responsibilities.” Such publicity stunts,” Vaishnow wrote on social media platform X.

Vaishnau urged the Telangana government to punish those whose failures led to the Sandhya theater incident, instead of attacking big names in the film industry.

“Instead of continuing to attack big names in the film industry, the Telangana government should support those affected and punish those who arranged that day. It has been a year since the Congress came to power. , it’s also sad to see this becoming the norm,” he wrote to X.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh leader of opposition and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also condemned the arrest of the Tollywood actor on Friday.

“Since he (Arjun) had no involvement in the tragic incident, it is neither fair nor acceptable to blame the crowd, file criminal charges or arrest him,” Reddy told X. claimed in the post.

Further, the former CM said that Arjun displayed a responsible attitude in expressing his grief over the tragedy and extended support to the affected families during this difficult time.

Mr Reddy urged authorities to act wisely and focus on ensuring justice for victims’ families without “unfairly targeting individuals”.

He also expressed deep sadness over the tragic loss of a woman’s life in the stampede at the Sandhya Theater in Hyderabad and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

Arjun was arrested on Friday by a local court in Hyderabad and sentenced to 14 days in connection with the gang assault incident during the premiere of his blockbuster film Pushpa 2: The Rules in which a woman died. Sent to judicial custody. He was granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court.
