There are always many exciting movies for Disney movies I am looking forward to, but I always have a soft spot for the following Pixar Animation Studios: Following Inside Out 2, it became the best gloss movie in 2024, and I hope that future studios will be wonderful. It is definitely interesting to hear Pixar’s chief creative officer, Pete Dotter, share new comments about recent movies with Disney+and box office revenue.
Pixar’s boss talks about sending a lot of movies directly to Disney+
From 2020 to 2022, Pixar abandoned the movie to the theater, and was released from home for those who have Disney+subscriptions. It means that fans like me could not get the opportunity to turn red in the soul, Luka, and the theater. Pixar has recently talked about Pixar’s previous strategy:
There was “Luka” with “soul”, “red”, and Disney+only. Few people talk about “soul”. There is no discussion. So we came out of it and we had a “light”, but it didn’t hit. After having a considerable number of sequels, Pixar returned to creating an original movie based on the original concept in these three titles, but the theater is confused during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, it was decided to release them at home. Looking back on the release, Dotter has steadily hindered that these films have lost their theaters as a pop culture touchstone like other films in the past studio. It’s a pity, given that the soul was judged to be the best Pixar movie made so far.
But I want to talk about his solid take.
Following the Pixar era, not a theater event but a Disney+movie, the next movie in the cinema was flop. Toy Story Spinoff Lightyear reported a loss of $ 16 billion when only $ 26 million in the world’s box office revenue. Pixar sounds surprising when the viewer did not hit, but I think Dotter’s idea about the reason why it did not work in the theater has a merit. This is what he had to say:
Perhaps it didn’t take enough spectators to understand what was needed when talking about “Toy Story”. You need that interesting relationship. A wide range of humor and a wide range of characters is required. And it was devastating when the “elemental” was not opened well. And strangely, it continued ($ 484 million worldwide).
The audience absolutely loved the Toy Story movie buzz Light year, but the true Pixar did not provide us the same beloved character in Lightyear. He was not a Tim Allen’s toy character in his own movie, but it was a more serious science fiction action version of Chris Evans. Following the release of the movie, there was a share of Lightyear apologies, which defended the movie, but as a whole, it did not hit the same as a Toy Story movie.
Sadly, I think the great success of Inside Out 2 and the more original pixar movie may mean that the studio will make a safer swing (Toy Story 5 Release Date) Etc.). I really hope that Animation Studio keeps using its imagination. Because Lightyear felt like a weak spin -off for me, because it came from some interesting original places.
