DreamWorks is the beloved animation giant behind franchises like Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon. While the company isn’t actually saying goodbye for good, it recently signaled the end of an era with The Wild Robot, its last fully animated in-house title. A fitting swan song for such a remarkable era in animation as a whole, director Chris Saunders’ animated feature surpassed box office expectations as a moving and visually striking film. It became one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time and is now poised to dominate the streaming world. According to Variety, Wild Robot is scheduled to arrive at Peacock on January 24th.
Apart from its streaming release on Peacock, The Wild Robot is available for rent and purchase on Prime Video, Apple TV, and VOD platforms. The film is also available on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD when it becomes available on December 3, 2024. Based on Peter Brown’s best-selling novel of the same name, this animated science fiction film chronicles one person’s story. Wild Robot is one of the best animated movies of 2024
In addition to bringing in such impressive box office returns, Wild Robot was also a big hit with Inside Head 2, Orion and the Dark, Moana 2, Flo, Transformers One, and Tigers. It was one of the best releases of 2024, along with The Apprentice and The Lord of the Roads. The Ring: War of the Rohirrim. Wild Robot not only did well at the box office, but was also very well received by critics and audiences alike. The film currently boasts a critic score of 97% and audience score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. This accomplishment is a remarkable feat for animation, considering the success of several animated productions in the past few years.
