Oskaloosa is now home to a $17 million entertainment complex called Trio, offering a variety of activities and creating new jobs. Trio is located just off Highway 163 on the west side of Oskaloosa. Named after three coal mines, this complex offers a unique and fun experience without being dark or dusty. “This is a full-service restaurant, with about 200 seats total,” general manager Matt Jones said. Jones recently gave a tour of the facility. The highlight is the huge bar and grill. For movie buffs, there are three new luxury movie theaters located next to the restaurant. The trio also features four pickleball courts, two tennis courts, and three golf simulators. “So I think we’re the first to be able to do all of these activities under one roof,” Jones said. Jones said the developer aimed to bring a big-city feel to Oskaloosa. The complex will also create approximately 80 full-time and part-time jobs. “Even the closest thing to this would be an hour and 20 minute drive to Des Moines to get something like this.” So it’s right here in town,” Jones said. said. Local resident Karl Drost stopped by for lunch during Trio’s soft opening and gave it high praise. “I think this will add more charm to the town and really liven it up and bring people to town,” Jones said.
