Madrid midfielder Luka Modric trained with the team on Friday after being ruled out of the semi-final against Mallorca due to a virus infection, and Ancelotti looks set to feature him in the Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona. So is Jude Bellingham. And Federico Valverde finished the match with muscle soreness.
The Croatian took part in a first-choice recovery session this afternoon and will join the full squad on Saturday in training ahead of the final. The 39-year-old Balkan player is aiming to win his 29th title with the Merengue, and his third this season after the European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup.
Bellingham and Valverde also trained on Friday, but there were no further injuries and although he is still not 100% fit, he will be fit to play against Barça. Ancelotti replaced Frenchman Aurélien Choameny as a precaution after he recovered from a head contusion sustained in the second half.
In Friday afternoon’s training session, the players who, like Modric, started against Mallorca were limited to recovery work. Real Madrid’s website said the substitutes trained in the gym and on the pitch, including physical series, possession drills, small-sided games and shots on goal under the direction of coach Antonio Pintus.
