Modi’s BJP was ready to win the election in Delhi for the first time in 27 years, Exit Polls Show | India

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party appears poised to win the Delhi election, a victory that will end the 27-year drought, according to voter exit polls.

If the forecast is passed, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to ensure that the reformist Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will end nearly a decade-old rule in the national capital region and reclaim the Delhi parliament.

The combined “poll” placed the Pro Hindu BJP party in 43 seats, with AAP following at 26. The secular assembly led by Rahul Gandhi was predicted to win only one seat in the state, which was once its base. . However, some individual votes suggested a much more demanding contest, with the AAP claiming that the exit vote was wrong.

“The exit vote was never the right thing about AAP. According to AAP spokesman Priyanka Kakkar, AAPs take power on a large mission every time, and this time, it’s no different. The AAP won 62 of the 70 assembly seats, while the BJP captured the remaining eight.

The defeat of the AAP would mark a massive setback for the anti-established party and its leader, Arvind Kejriwal. .

Kejriwal founded the party in 2012, presenting it as a crusade of Aam Aadmi or Common Man, and committed to improving basic services from health and electricity to water and education.

Kejwal, whose party’s symbol is broom, is a vocal critic of Modi, and is equally poignant in return. The Prime Minister spoke at many meetings ahead of the Delhi election and worked hard against the AAP.

The BJP’s predicted victory will be another Fillip for the party after a relatively overwhelming performance in the May 2024 general election. It formed a government with coalition partners.

Now, since national elections, the fate of the BJP could rise resolutely after winning in Maharashtra and Haryana. Official results are scheduled for Saturday.

During the campaign, all three political parties actively pleaded with voters with a gift promise, from free water and electricity to cash incentives.

AAP’s governance model is based on a general public welfare scheme that has gained widespread support. The AAP has also promoted its status as a “squeaky clean” political alternative to the BJP and Congress.

But that second term was plunged into confusion by allegations of corruption in which Kejwal, the prime minister, and his two closest ministers, were imprisoned for a long stretch.

The arrest stems from what is called liquor fraud, and AAP has been accused of accepting kickbacks in its now-covered consumer policy. India’s central government research body claims that the liquor business has poured bribes into AAP leaders.

The AAP denied the charges and said the BJP was engaged in political revenge. However, the allegations stopped the BJP from positioning with party voters, along with the construction of a luxurious prime minister’s residence called Sheeshmahal (Paradise of the Mirror).
