Eurovision is known for its comprehensive and celebration, and often emphasizes LGBTQ+artists and themes. However, the Russian counter part almost certainly reflects the national posture on the rights of LGBTQ+.
Since Moscow launched Ukraine’s full -fledged invasion in February 2022, Russia has been banned from participating in Eurovision.
The European Broadcasting Association (EBU), the European organizer, stated in a statement, “Including Russian entry in this year’s contest will be disgraced.” As the Russian attack progresses, the elimination of the Eurovision continues.
Putin’s idea about Russian organized music competition is not new.
Moscow held an intervise music contest between 1965 and 1968 during the Soviet era, and the Cold War was boiled down between the Allies between 1977 and 1980.
In December, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavlov said that more than 25 countries, including Latin American countries, are already interested in participating in such contests.
