Actor comedian Jamie Lever, daughter of Bollywood actor Johnny Lever, recently opened about Bollywood nepotism. In an interview with Zoom, Jamie recalls how her journey is marked by rejection and effort, and why she doesn’t consider herself a “Nepo Kid.”

Jamie said, “I’m looking at this very closely now. There’s a difference between being a Nepo child and being an actor’s child. I’m an actor’s daughter, but my journey is very different. Kids in the industry, I can see how big the difference is.”

She recalls her father’s advice, saying, “There are people who play roles on a silver platter and are given lead parts for the movie without much effort. And there are people who have gone through countless auditions and have to refuse. Be the best in the industry or at all.”
Johnny Lever is one of India’s most iconic and beloved comedians, known for his perfect comic timing and expressive face. He began his career as a stand-up performer and gained fame in the 1990s with memorable roles in films such as Baajigal, Dewana Mastana, Darheraja and Baadsha. Over the years, he has appeared in over 300 films and often steals scenes with comic geniuses, regardless of screen time.
Jamie has appeared in several Bollywood films, including Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, Housefull 4, Bhoot Police, Yaatris, and Crakk. She is also known for her imitation videos of viruses impersonating celebrities like Sara Ali Khan and Fara Khan. Jamie is currently set to undertake the Jamie Lever Show, a Jamie Lever Show all over the United States. The tour begins in Seattle on August 1st, covering 15 cities and closes in Boston on August 31st.
