A video clip of Dwight Howard is making the rounds on the internet, in which he claims he was nearly kicked out of the NBA for his tweets about the liberation of Palestine. The clip caught the attention of UFC veteran Jake Shields, who is now reacting to the video.
This video clip is from Howard’s recent appearance on The Gauds Show. While discussing restrictions on free speech in the NBA, Howard recalled an incident in 2014 when he had to apologize to the NBA commissioner and his agent for tweeting in support of Palestine. The 39-year-old revealed:
“I tweeted Liberate Palestine. Within 10 minutes, I got calls from the NBA commissioner, my agent, people from my foundation, and even people from Texas, telling me to take it down. .”
Former UFC welterweight Shields, who is a pro-Palestinian activist and vocal supporter of the region on social media, reshared the clip and wrote:

“If you’re in the NBA, you can’t say let Palestine be free.”

Former UFC fighter Derek Brunson proposes a matchup between Shaquille O’Neal and Dwight Howard
NBA legends Shaquille O’Neal and Dwight Howard have been shooting each other for years. But last week, the conflict between the two escalated, with Howard accusing O’Neal of being jealous and insecure about other NBA greats.
O’Neal, who has criticized Howard’s gameplay, criticized X and applauded him for not taking his comments sportingly. He wrote:
“@DwightHoward, the fact that you think I care about you is funny, but I’ll never bring up your name again, sensitive big man, jokester who can’t take a joke.” I’ll never say your name again. Have a great day, and now you’re deleted. Have a great day.
Shaq’s X post caught the attention of former UFC fighter Derek Brunson, who delved into the feud between the two and suggested a match between the two. He wrote:
“I can list these. Mixed martial arts, boxing, etc. What do you like?”
