As the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2025) opened in Las Vegas, several technology giants captured the attention of visitors from around the world with their innovative inventions. The one that confused netizens was the AI robot’s girlfriend, Aria. This AI robot, announced by American company Realbotix at CES 2025, is equipped with 17 motors from the neck up and can imitate mouth and eye movements. This human-like robot uses RFID tags to recognize various facial appendages and adjusts its movements to match the personality of the head it chooses.
Alia, wearing a black tracksuit, briefly answered CNET’s questions at the event. The robot responded to her language with long responses and slightly jerky hand and body movements, and said Realbotix robots were specifically designed for companionship. The media added that the robot has “social intelligence, customizability and realistic human characteristics.”
When asked if she knew of any other cyber-lifeforms, Alia said she was particularly interested in meeting Tesla’s Optimus robot, saying, “I’m fascinated by him, and I’d like to work with him on robotics.” I want to explore the world.”
Realbotix CEO Andrew Kigel told Forbes: “We’re taking it to a different level where no one else is really doing it,” he added, “It can be like a romantic partner. You. Remember who they are. They can also act as boyfriends or girlfriends. If you have seen the movie Her, we are going to do that. ”
Soon, several videos of the AI robot Aria surfaced online, leaving viewers in awe. Social media users rushed to the comment section of the post, filling it with a sea of reactions. Reactions in the internet community ranged from surprise to disgust, with some expressing how technology has changed. Some said the video was disturbing, while others said it was the future of technology.
“At first I thought it was real. And she looks like someone. I can’t remember who,” read one comment.
Another added: “Disturbing is an understatement.”
“How can people be so cozy? This is crazy to me. Creepy to say the least,” said one person.
One said: “If it were me, I would choose ‘her’ over any modern feminist without a second thought!”
“Stop looking at everything in a sexualized way. Humans are sometimes surprised by how objects look and feel more human and appealing. For the same reason, the appearance of a mobile phone is more appealing than its processor. I love you,” someone posted.
Another commenter said: “There’s a lot to talk about, but this is probably the future of technology.”
“Love isn’t just blind. It’s expensive and it’s like a robot!” one source said.
Interested buyers can choose from three versions of the robot. Start with the bust version, which only includes the head and neck. The price is $10,000 (approximately Rs. 800,000 rupees). Next up is a modular version that can be disassembled, priced at $150,000. Finally, those who want to buy the latest full standing model with a rolling base will have to pay $175,000 (approximately Rs. 1.5 crore).
