After the debacle of losing the last two series of Test matches to New Zealand and Australia, India shifted its attention to limited-overs cricket. India will play five T20Is and three ODIs against England from January 22 to February 12. The series marks India’s preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy, which begins on February 19, with India playing a match in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the following day.

What will be the main focus of India’s upcoming series?
India have not played in the 50-over format since finishing second behind Sri Lanka in August last year. The three-game series ended with the host team scoring 2-0. The series featured all the seniors including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Rohit is certain to captain the team in the UAE, with Jasprit Bumrah expected to be his vice-captain unless there are any major concerns about his fitness. White-ball specialists like Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh will also be in the squad.
Two-time Champions Trophy winners India are tied with Bangladesh, New Zealand and Pakistan in Group A of the Champions Trophy.
Much of the discussion leading up to the Champions Trophy revolved around India’s travel plans against hosts Pakistan. A lengthy dialogue ensued between both boards and the International Cricket Council (ICC) after India said it would not allow travel to the neighboring country due to security reasons.
Ultimately, it was declared that the tournament would be played on a hybrid model, with India’s matches including the first semi-final and possible final to be played in Dubai. The remaining matches will be played in Pakistan.
Additionally, neither side will visit neighboring countries for ICC events until 2027.
When will the teams be announced?
As reported by TimesofIndia.com, Indian men’s cricket team selection chairman Ajit Agarkar will begin discussions with head coach Gautam Gambhir to select the team.
The tournament begins on February 19th, so teams have until January 12th to select their 15 provisional squad members. However, changes can be made until February 13th.
“All teams must submit provisional squads by January 12th, but changes will be allowed until February 13th, as the International Cricket Council (ICC) announces the squad. It is up to the teams to decide whether to do so or not.”The only time the team submitted was on February 13,” said an ICC official.
Will Jasprit Bumrah be featured?
To solidify their plans and warm up, all players participating in the Champions Trophy will face England in three ODIs on February 6, 9 and 12 in Nagpur, Cuttack and Ahmedabad.
The only exception to these plans might be Jasprit Bumrah. The seamer, who bowled 151.2 overs in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, suffered back spasms in Sydney and was unable to bowl in the final innings of the series.
Medical experts say if it is indeed just a back spasm, Bumrah should recover in time for the start of the Champions Trophy within six weeks. If it gets worse, like a grade 1 stress fracture, Seamer will be out of work for a while.
“It depends on the final diagnosis of the injury. Back spasms are usually an orange light, indicating that something worse may be in store and that you need to stop at that point… Bumrah, who had suffered a stress fracture, had to read the signs at the right time and decided to stop in Sydney,” the former India Test bowler told TOI.
Indian seamer Jasprit Bumrah missed the final session in Sydney due to back spasms.
“Perhaps this time he felt pressure in his upper back. The report has been passed on to his surgeon and we should have the final results soon. My hunch is that he will be presented with a CT He will be part of the first team.”After all, he can replace injuries later,” the pacer added.
Former Indian trainer Ramji Srinivasan said that for injuries of grades 1 to 3, recovery could take up to one to six months.
However, Ramji was cautious about bringing Bumrah back into the bowling lineup as the IPL continues. Bumrah is a treasure and must be handled with care. Getting a CT scan doesn’t mean the end of the world. If there is any doubt, he shouldn’t be in the team. “Playing five Test matches in a row is something he has never played before in his cricketing career,” the trainer said.
Does Mohamed Shami have a chance?

according to cliqbuzz According to reports, Mohammed Shami is in contention for a place in the England series and Champions Trophy. The seamer was floated as a candidate for the squad throughout the series in Australia, but was ultimately not called up.
The NCA medical team continues to monitor Shami, who underwent surgery on his right heel last year, the report said. Although it healed, there was some slight swelling in the knee.
Recently, Shami played a few matches for Bengal in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and played again in Thursday’s pre-quarterfinal match against Haryana.
In the match played in Baroda, Shami bowled first and took three wickets from his quota of 10 overs. The seamer accounted for the wickets of Himanshu Rana, Dinesh Bana and Anshul Kamboj and finished with figures of 3/61.
