After an impressive 2024 season that saw him win a silver medal at the Paris Olympics, Adam Peaty returned to the pool in 2025. The Briton recently announced that he has begun preparations for the upcoming season at the same location that was his Olympic training base. 2016 Rio Olympics.
Peaty is one of the most dominant sprint breaststrokers of all time, winning three Olympic and eight World Championship gold medals. In her first appearance at the Rio Olympics, she won her first gold medal in the 100m breaststroke. Four years later he successfully defended his title, becoming the first British swimmer to achieve this feat.
Now, Adam Peaty is back in the pool looking to dominate the competition for another year. He announced on Instagram that he was training at Repton Swimming Club for 2025, writing:
“First week back to training. I have chosen to return to @reptonswimming under coach Jamie Main. This is where I have already spent many years and where else would I continue my career?” I couldn’t think of it (it was my training base for Rio 2016).”
“This is also where we have run a number of @apraceofficial clinics and have always been particularly impressed with their investment in sporting excellence. It brings back fond memories. Time to get to work,” he added.
Peaty’s move to Repton Swimming Club comes after his former coach Melanie Marshall moved to Australia last year.
Adam Peaty looks back on 2024 season

For Adam Peaty, 2024 was the year of a successful comeback. The Englishman made a strong return to the pool last year after struggling with his mental health and spending most of 2023 without a competitive match.
He started the 2024 season by winning the 100m breaststroke at the 2024 Aquatics GB Swimming Championships, before qualifying for the Paris Olympics. At this event, he won the silver medal along with Team USA’s Nick Fink.
At the start of the new year, Petey reflected on his accomplishments in 2024, writing on Instagram:
“2024 has been a year full of learning, growth, risk, and love. It’s been the most amazing year and I’m so lucky to be living the life I have. What’s around the corner? I don’t know what will happen or what card life will do to us next. I am grateful for the people I surround myself with because they are the most loyal, trustworthy and reliable people I could ask for. Most importantly, they’re funny people.”
“Thank you to everyone who continues to follow my journey as an athlete and as a human being. I am not retiring and am looking forward to a new training program and base in 2025. We don’t stop when times get tough, we stop when we’re done. Have a wonderful new year!”
Throughout his career, Adam Peaty won a total of 6 medals at the Olympics and 12 medals at the World Championships. He is also the current world record holder for the 50m and 100m breaststroke.
