Hulu was a great start to the year, as one of its recent additions is already a hit. On January 10, Hulu released season 2 of the supernatural horror series Goosebumps. The series is already a huge hit on streaming platforms.

Goosebumps: The Vanishing premiered more than a year after the first Goosebumps, which was released simultaneously on Disney+ and Hulu in October 2023. The series follows a serialized anthology style, with character and story changes in season two. According to FlixPatrol, Goosebumps: The Vanishing was a huge success on both Disney+ and Hulu, entering the top 10 charts on both streaming services.

The executive producer of Goosebumps: The Vanishing explains that he sees humor in the show’s decision to follow an anthology format.

“Goosebumps: The Vanishing” currently ranks ahead of Dream Productions’ popular spin-off series “Inside Out” on Disney+, “Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Modern Family.” It is next in fourth place.

On Hulu, the series ranks third behind “High Potential” and “The Rookie.” It is currently the only Hulu original series in the top 10.

The series is written by Rob Letterman and Nicholas Stoller and is based on the book series of the same name by R.L. Stine. However, rather than following one novel per episode, the series adapts each book each season. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television, Original Film, and Scholastic Entertainment, which also produced previous film adaptations based on the same IP, 2015’s Goosebumps and 2018’s Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween.

Goosebumps began as a children’s horror novel series, and many of the novels were used as inspiration for the Hulu series. Season 1 follows a group of five high school students, Isaiah (Zack Morris), Margot (Isa Briones), Isabella (Anna Yi Puig), James (Miles McKenna), and Lucas (Will Price), who become the targets of a cursed item. I drew it. They attend a Halloween party. Season 1 includes an entirely new story, but includes a series of Easter eggs and references to Stein’s book series.

Season 2 of Goosebumps: The Vanishing introduced a new series of characters starring David Schwimmer as Anthony, Ana Ortiz as Jen, Jaeden Bartels as CeCe, and Sam McCarthy as Devin. This season is loosely inspired by the author’s 1992 novel Stay Out of the Basement.

RL Stine teases the goosebump-inducing book he’d like to see turned into a movie next

Since the Hulu series has become so popular, the streamer may want to continue the series beyond its current season two. As of now, the anthology show hasn’t been officially renewed for a third season, but given its popularity, it seems very likely. Both Disney+ and Hulu. Speaking to Deadline in a recent interview, R.L. Stine teased that he’d love to see some of the new novels adapted into anime. “Well, they did things like my favorites. They did the Haunted Mask in the first season, they did all the Slappy stuff in the first season, so they kind of got through with it. .”

“I’d probably like to see some new Goosebumps,” Stein said. “You know, I’m still going. I just signed on to write six more Goosebumps books. So I’d love to see some new stuff.”

Goosebumps: The Vanishing is currently streaming on Disney+.
