A television adaptation was announced for Hulu, causing mixed reactions between fans. Some were excited to eventually witness their favorite characters on screen, but it could be that the team would do it with others who are skeptical about the production. Is the courts in the Thorns & Roses series discarded by Hulu?
According to Variety, the adaptation has been officially cancelled. The show that the script was working on by author Sarah J. Mars himself and Outlander creator Ronald D. Moore will not happen anymore. A few months ago it was revealed that production had been suspended in the series. It has been confirmed that the Acotar show will not arrive on Hulu.
There was no active development in 2024, but some fans still had hopes about it, but a recent report revealed that production of the show was discontinued. According to the portal, Maas is about to sell adaptation rights to another studio and platform once it expires at Disney.
Thorns and Roses Court: History of the Series
For Unversed, the first book was entitled The Court of Thorns and Roses and was released in 2015. Ten years later, the series will have four main books and one novel, and two more books and one novel. It revolves around the world of Prettyan, consisting of humans and fairies.
The main characters in the series include Faia Archeron, Leesand, Nesta Archeron, Cassian, Elaine Archiron, Azriel, Lucian Vancela, and Vassa. It enjoys huge popularity and big fandom around the world. Sarah’s next book is expected to be the fifth book in the series. No announcements have been made yet, but there are some fan theories about it.
According to the story and prophecy, Elaine Archeron and Azriel are expected to lead the book in their love stories. The first three books were about Faire Archeron and her journey with Leesand. The novel was the bridge between the first three books and the subsequent three spinoffs.
The first spinoff, the fourth book, was led by Feir’s sister Nesta. Her love story with Cassian and her journey as Valkyrie took the centre stage. The next two spinoff books could be Elain’s story with Lucien’s love story with Shadowsinger Azriel and the Cursed Firebird Queen Vassa. The title announcement of Book Five is expected sometime in his year.
