From Oscars to Grammys: Top Hollywood awards ceremony updates amid Los Angeles wildfires

Hollywood awards season has largely been canceled as wildfires continue to disrupt life and work in the Los Angeles area. As the industry navigates the ongoing crisis, updates are provided almost daily from the Hollywood guilds and organizations that host awards shows.
From the Oscars to the Grammys, we’ve got an overview of the major upcoming award shows, including updated nomination dates.
Producers Guild and Writers Guild Award nominations postponed, new dates not announced
Writers Association of America Candidate announcements were scheduled to be announced on January 8, but that date was pushed back to January 13 and then postponed indefinitely. The Producers Guild of America’s feature film nominations were scheduled to be announced on January 10th, but the announcement was pushed back to January 12th, and then later this week.

academy awardRecommendation January 23rd
Oscar nominations have been postponed twice, originally scheduled for January 17th, then January 19th, but then postponed again. The delay in announcement corresponds with an extension of the voting deadline, as many Academy members have been affected by the bushfires.
Nominations will be announced through a “virtual presentation”, avoiding an on-site press conference.
Critics Choice Award January 26th
The awards ceremony, originally scheduled for January 12, was to be held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, just a few miles from the Pacific Palisades area where the fire broke out.
The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on E!, hosted by Chelsea Handler.

grammy awards February 2nd
The Grammy Awards schedule was largely unaffected by the wildfires, as nominations were announced in November. However, some auxiliary events have been canceled, and Universal Music Group said it would cancel all related events, including artist showcases and after-parties, and direct those resources to wildfire recovery efforts.
The Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on CBS. The organizer has not yet been announced.
Producers and Directors Guild Awarded on February 8th
These are two separate award ceremonies. Both non-televised shows are scheduled to take place on the same night in Los Angeles. Winner of the PGA Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of a Theatrical Film, he has won the Best Picture Oscar six times in the last seven years. Over the past two decades, DGA Award winners have almost always won at the Oscars as well.
writers guild Award on February 15th
The Writers Guild of America gives awards to adapted films and original feature film scripts that match Oscar nominees and winners, documentaries, television shows and movies. This is an event not shown on TV.
british academy awards February 16th
The British Academy Film Awards – officially known as the EE BAFTA Film Awards – are the British equivalent of Hollywood’s Academy Awards. Nominations are expected to be announced on January 15, a day unaffected by the fires (although the awards ceremony will be held in London, nominees come from all over the world, and many British celebrities also call Los Angeles home).
It will be broadcast on the BBC in the UK and Britbox in North America, and will be hosted by David Tennant.
Faran Tahir February 22nd
The Film Independent Spirit Awards shine a spotlight on films made with budgets of $30 million or less, so they rank alongside the Oscar front-runners this year (‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’). ”), and other years (“Oppenheimer”), not so much.
The show will be streamed on YouTube and will be hosted by Aidy Bryant.

SAG Award February 23rd
The Actors Guild proceeded to announce the nominees, but in the early days of the fire the announcement was changed to a press release rather than a live announcement. The SAG Awards are probably the most powerful of the Oscar predictions. Their selections may not always match exactly the Motion Picture Academy’s selections, but they are often very close to the Motion Picture Academy’s selections. The previous three ensemble winners, Oppenheimer, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and CODA, all won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
The show will be hosted by Kristen Bell and streamed live on Netflix.
academy award March 2nd
The high-profile event to conclude Hollywood’s awards season will go ahead as scheduled from Los Angeles’ Dolby Theater, which was temporarily endangered by the quickly extinguished Sunset Fire. The Motion Picture Academy has postponed its Science and Technology Awards ceremony from February 18th (no postponement date has been announced) and has completely canceled its annual nominations luncheon. The luncheon, although not broadcast on television, is a highlight of the social calendar, known for its interactions and “class photos.”
The Oscar ceremony will be hosted by Conan O’Brien and will be broadcast live on ABC.
