French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday claimed that X Platform owner Elon Musk is interfering in elections in multiple countries.
“Who could have imagined 10 years ago that the owner of one of the world’s largest social networks would support a new international reactionary movement and intervene directly in elections?” President Macron said in a speech to the French ambassador. he said. , including Germany.”
But he also said that US President-elect Donald Trump “knows that he has a strong ally in France.”
The French president spoke about several global political developments, including the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the change in leadership in Syria, and the situation in the Middle East.
The French president said there was “no quick and easy solution” regarding Ukraine, adding that Ukraine needed to be “realistic” regarding “territorial issues”.
Regarding Syria, President Macron warned Western countries against putting too much trust in Syria’s new leadership after Assad was ousted in December last year. “We must think about regime change in Syria naively,” he said, stressing that France would maintain its support. For “freedom fighters like the Kurds” who continue to fight against extremist groups in Syria.
He also suggested that the Middle East issue, with Iran as the aggressor, would be a key topic of discussion with the incoming Trump administration. “Iran is a major strategic and security challenge for France, European countries, the entire region and other countries,” he said.
