Washington DC:
With Donald Trump’s blessing, a new era of artificial intelligence has begun in the United States. Three technology giants seeking global dominance in AI have joined together in a cause to launch the world’s largest AI project. It’s called “Stargate.” The announcement was made by Donald Trump during a special press conference at the White House. However, Elon Musk has cast doubts on this huge project.
The team spearheading this ambitious project includes Sam Altman, founder of ChatGPT creator OpenAI, Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison, and SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son. Nvidia is also reportedly in talks for a possible partnership on this project, but there has been no confirmation from their side yet.
Stargate launch at the White House
The CEOs of the three companies joined President Donald Trump at the White House to officially launch the Stargate project. President Trump announced this, calling it the “largest AI infrastructure project in history” and calling it “at least $500 billion” of investment, with an initial investment of $100 billion. The president also said the project will create more than 100,000 jobs in the United States.
He said Stargate will build “the physical and virtual infrastructure to power the next generation of AI.” In addition, Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison said Stargate’s first 1 million square foot data center is already under construction in Texas.
Elon Musk’s “fomo” moment?
Interestingly, Elon Musk, one of Donald Trump’s biggest supporters and confidants, has been distanced from the project. Shortly after the White House press conference ended, Elon Musk made a snide remark on his social media platform X. His post seems to suggest that he may be a little irritated with this huge project.
Stargate project announcement
Stargate Project is a new company that plans to invest $500 billion over the next four years to build new AI infrastructure for OpenAI in the United States. We will immediately begin committing $100 billion. This infrastructure…

Elon Musk directly replied to OpenAI’s post on X about Stargate, writing, “They don’t actually have the money ($500 billion).” “SoftBank has well under $10 billion in funding, which I am aware of on good authority,” he said in another post.
SoftBank has secured funding well below $10 billion. I have it on good authority.

He also engaged with X users who mocked the project. “OpenAI and Microsoft are over,” one user wrote, hinting at a rift between the two technology partners, to which Elon Musk responded, “It seems like it is.”
The Tesla, SpaceX, and X chairman owns his own AI company, xAI, which competes directly with Sam Altman’s OpenAI.
Elon Musk vs Sam Altman – From OPEN-AI co-founder to AI nemesis
It’s also interesting to note that Elon Musk was one of the co-founders of OpenAI when it started in 2015. As a non-profit organization, Elon Musk has even provided funding for the project when funding was needed. However, Musk left OpenAi in 2018.
Recently, the relationship between Elon Musk and Sam Altman/OpenAI has soured significantly, with the world’s richest man suing the creator of ChatGPT. Musk has filed multiple lawsuits against OpenAI and Sam Altman, accusing ChatGPT’s creators of violating licensing agreements and antitrust laws.
Elon Musk even claimed in one of his lawsuits that OpenAI and Sam Altman manipulated him from the beginning, when they “seduced” him to become a co-founder of the company.
In his latest lawsuit against technology partner-turned-arch rival Sam Altman, Musk claims the OpenAI lawsuit is a “textbook tale of altruism and greed.” Musk also claimed that Sam Altman and his partners betrayed him by transforming the company from a nonprofit to a primarily for-profit company. “Their betrayal and deception are Shakespearean,” Musk’s complaint states.
Although OpenAI denies these allegations, it is true that OpenAI recently declared it was moving from a “non-profit” organization to a “for-profit” organization, a move that came under a lot of criticism.
Sam Altman thanks President Trump
Sam Altman has now declared that Stargate will solidify America’s position as the world leader in AI technology. Altman thanked President Donald Trump at a White House press conference, saying, “I think this is going to be the most important project of our time. Mr. President, we couldn’t have done this without you.” said.
Cloud giant Oracle, one of Stargate’s partners, has about $11 billion in cash and securities, according to the Wall Street Journal. SoftBank, the third partner in the project, holds about $30 billion. OpenAI has been a debt-financed and loss-making organization, but at a press conference the three companies pledged to invest an initial $100 billion in the Stargate project and at least $500 billion over the next four years.
