Mobile phone industry body ICEA said on Monday that the Uttar Pradesh government has assured timely disbursement of incentives to the electronics industry to encourage companies to set up manufacturing units in the state.
Electronics manufacturers including Dixon Technologies, Zetwerk, Tata Electronics, Micromax, Karbonn and Amber met Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh on December 10 to discuss developments in the sector.
“Mr. Singh ensured timely disbursement of state incentives to the electronics industry and extended the state’s unwavering support to private entities setting up manufacturing clusters,” the Indian Cellular Electronics Association (ICEA) said in a statement. .
According to ICEA data, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the cornerstone of India’s electronics manufacturing industry. In 2023-24, the state accounted for about 40-45% of India’s electronics production and about 60% of mobile phone production by value.
“The government will implement manufacturing-friendly policies that encourage investment across the electronics value chain, expand the role of women in the workforce, and promote housing infrastructure for workers in the electronics cluster,” Singh said in a statement. We are committed to providing all possible support by implementing these measures.”
Uttar Pradesh also contributes around 15 per cent to the country’s electronics exports and around 25 per cent to mobile phone exports, the statement said.
