The New York businessman was presented with the award after being named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year. The opportunity to ring the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) to mark the ceremonial star of the day’s trading.
A symbolic ceremony marks the start of the day at 9:30 a.m. ET. Marisa Ricciardi, NYSE Euronext’s chief marketing officer, previously praised the service as a “great platform for raising awareness” and “allowing us to get our message out to Wall Street, Main Street, and the world.” he added. At another point during his speech, he also mentioned issues that will need to be “sorted out” when he takes office on January 20th. We have to solve some big problems in the world.
